A white elephant  [a useless object which is expensive to keep]
An eye sore           [an unpleasant sight]
An eye for an eye   [take revenge]
Apple of one’s eye  [a favoured person]
At the eleventh hour [at the last moment]
A black sheep     [a good for nothing person]

Bad egg            [worthless person]
Beat about/ around the bush  [talk in a roundabout way]
Bread and butter  [means of livelihood]
Bury the hatchet  [forget past quarrels]

Carry weight    [important]
Cats and dogs [always quarreling]
Caught red-handed [caught while committing a crime
Child play       [easy to do]
